Before anything else, I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family of Maurice Harrison. No matter what a person believed, how they identified, or what public name they used, the truth is this: someone’s child has died. Someone’s friend. Someone’s family member. A human being, fearfully and wonderfully made.. lost his life in a way that was violent, heartbreaking, and entirely preventable.
This story has affected me deeply for many reasons, but two stand out:
The reality of domestic violence and how often it is tolerated, minimized, or excused until it destroys someone’s life.
The confusion surrounding identity, truth, and eternity, and how society’s shifting standards often silence the very warnings that could save souls.
Maurice, known publicly as “Girl LaLaLa,” was loved by many. Fans have gone back and unearthed older videos showing the relationship he was in.. one marked by patterns of toxicity, volatility and behaviors that so many young people mistakenly romanticize as “ride or die,” “crazy in love,” or “just passion.” But abuse is never passion. It is not love. It is not harmless. And tragically, this time, it ended with death.

No one deserves to be abused.. not in romance, not in friendships, not in family. Abuse is not normal. It is not cultural. It is not a joke. It is not entertainment. Abuse, tolerated, overlooked, or excused, always leads somewhere, and for Maurice, it led to the grave.

I also want to speak gently on the public conflict between his father and mother regarding the funeral. I understand the father’s conviction. I understand the mother’s desire to honor how Maurice lived. I see the pain on both sides, one wanting to bury him as a son, the other wanting to bury him as the public figure he portrayed.
But what captured my attention was not the disagreement itself, it was the father’s statement suggesting that dressing him “correctly” for the funeral had something to do with Maurice’s soul or salvation.

This is where I must lovingly, truthfully, and biblically speak:
A hairstyle, a wig, or an outfit in a casket does not save a soul. Only Jesus Christ does.
The scriptures are clear.
Biology, Identity, and the Sacredness of Sex
While I offer compassion, I must also stand firmly on conviction. Biology is not neutral. God is not ambiguous.
Women have XX chromosomes.
Men have XY chromosomes.
Bone structure.. including the pelvis, sacrum, femur angle, and skull reveals sex even centuries after death.
Hormones, reproductive systems, and internal anatomy testify to God’s order.

Sex is not a costume. Identity is not merely a feeling. And while people may choose expressions, we cannot choose our design.
Design speaks. DNA speaks. God has. spoken.
So when I refer to Maurice as “he,” it is not out of mockery or disrespect. It is out of conviction, reverence for truth, reverence for science, and reverence for the God who created male and female. Pictured is Maurice ‘girl lalala’ in his natural biological state.
What Truly Determines Eternity
This tragedy brings up a deeper, more sobering question:
What determines where we spend eternity?
It is not personality or charisma. It is not how “loving” someone appeared. It is not how fun or likable they were. It is not how many followers they gained or cultural acceptance. It is not public perception. Heaven is not defined by opinion.
Heaven is defined by Scripture. And Scripture is clear:
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind…”— 1 Corinthians 6:9–10
That term “abusers of themselves with mankind” refers directly to male–male sexual behavior. Paul is not writing from hatred. Paul is not writing from bias.Paul is writing by the Holy Spirit.
But before anyone points fingers, the same passage warns:
fornicators
adulterers
liars
drunkards
idolaters
swindlers
“None will inherit the kingdom of God.”
Sin is not graded on a curve. All sin separates us from God.
The Dangerous Lie of “We’re All Sinners, So It’s Fine”
Many people excuse their choices with phrases like “God knows my heart” or “Only God can judge me", without understanding what that truly means. The misconception is that these statements offer comfort. Scripturally, they do not. When God describes the human heart, He says in Jeremiah 17:9 that it is deceitful and desperately wicked. That is not a compliment. That is a warning.
And when people speak lightly about God judging them, they overlook a deeper truth. Judgment is not a good thing. Scripture teaches that those who are in Christ are free from judgment, but those who reject Him are condemned already. Judgment is not security for the sinner. It is the consequence of refusing the Savior.
We cannot rewrite God’s standard to suit our desires. We cannot bless lifestyles that God Himself has called sin.We cannot hope to inherit eternal life while ignoring the very One who gives it.
Yes, every one of us is born in sin and shaped in iniquity, David told the truth about that. But that is why Jesus declared we must be born again. Born once of the flesh, but reborn by the Spirit.
And when the Spirit of God lives within us, we are no longer prisoners to the impulses that once controlled us. We don’t have to keep repeating the same sin cycles, because the Holy Spirit equips us to change, to overcome, to walk differently.
Just because the crowd normalizes something does not make it righteous. Human nature bends toward the flesh, toward whatever feels good in the moment. But eternal life belongs to those who choose the narrow path, the Spirit-led path. Scripture says it plainly: “As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.” In other words, salvation is not inherited by everyone who uses the word “Christian.” Eternal life belongs to those who surrender to Christ, yield to His Spirit, and allow God to transform what sin once defined.
This may be countercultural. It may be uncomfortable. But it is the truth that saves the soul.
The Tragedy Behind the Tragedy
Maurice’s death is heartbreaking. The domestic violence that led to it is unacceptable. The young man who killed him is right where the justice system requires him to be.

But the confusion surrounding God, identity, truth, repentance, and heaven.. that is another tragedy entirely. A tragedy unfolding in real time across this entire generation.
A Lesson About Death, Energy, and Eternity
Science tells us energy cannot be destroyed.Scripture tells us souls do not die. We are embodied souls, eternal beings in temporary bodies.
When the body dies, the soul goes somewhere:
eternally with God, or
eternally separated from Him.
We choose that destination while we are alive, not after.
The Biblical Meaning of Repentance
Repentance (Greek: metanoia) means:
a change of mind
a turning away from sin
a returning to God
a complete reorientation of desire and direction
Repentance is not “I’m sorry.”It is a transformation.
Can a Person Live a Lifestyle Forbidden by God and Still Inherit Eternal Life?
No. Not according to Scripture.
Salvation is found in Christ alone. Through Him we are rescued from the ultimate consequence of sin, which is death, not merely the death of the body but the eternal separation of the soul from God. And because energy does not cease to exist, a soul in a state of eternal death is simply a soul in unending torment, cut off from the Source of life, light, and truth.
This is why God calls us to turn away from sin, not because He is harsh, but because He knows the cost. Homosexuality, like any lifestyle that God identifies as sin, is not just a moment but a continual walk in something He has lovingly warned us about. Christianity, on the other hand, is a life of yielding, learning to lay ourselves down daily, and choosing to walk with Christ.
Two paths that lead in opposite directions cannot be walked at the same time.
How a Person Is Saved (According to Scripture)
Salvation is not complicated, but it is intentional:
Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord.Romans 10:9–10
Confess with your mouth that God raised Him from the dead.Romans 10:9
Repent—turn away from sin and turn toward God.Acts 3:19
Be baptized for the remission of sins. Acts 2:38“Remission” means the cancellation, wiping away, and full pardon of sin.
Receive the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to change.Acts 2:38; Romans 8:14
Die to self daily.Paul said: “I die daily.” —1 Corinthians 15:31
Salvation is not perfection. It is surrender.
A Prayer for Salvation and Transformation
If you have read this far, let this moment not pass by. Pray with sincerity, not as a ritual but as surrender:
Lord Jesus, I come to You as I am. I confess with my mouth that You are Lord, and I believe in my heart that You died and rose again for me. I repent, turning away from every sin, every desire, every mindset that separates me from You. Forgive me, wash me, and make me new. Holy Spirit, come into my life. Help me die to myself daily, even when it hurts, even when it is hard. Teach me to walk in truth. Show me real love, Your love. Transform my mind, my desires, my identity, and my heart. From this day forward, I surrender my life to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
